The Best Apricot BBQ Sauce
Perfect for everything from grilled chicken and ribs to roasted veggies—because why not make dinner feel a little more fabulous?
Ingredients
  • 18 ounces apricot jam or preserves (use the good stuff like Bonne Maman; it makes all the difference)
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (your choice, but I lean toward maple—so Canadian!)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, but it adds a nice kick)
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder (only if you’re feeling hot!!!!!!!!!!)
Directions

Step 1: Combine the Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, add all the ingredients. Yes, it’s that easy—everything goes in at once.

Step 2: Heat and Whisk
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and whisk constantly until the mixture just begins to bubble. This is when the magic happens—the jam melts, the spices bloom, and your kitchen smells divine.

Step 3: Simmer for Perfection
Lower the heat to a gentle simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust the seasoning to suit your preferences. (This is your moment to channel your inner chef.)

Step 4: Cool and Serve:
Remove from heat and allow the glaze to cool to room temperature. It’ll thicken slightly as it cools, making it perfect for brushing onto grilled meats, drizzling over roasted veggies, or even using as a dipping sauce

Jonathon’s Tips

This apricot glaze is a total game-changer—bright, sticky, and just the right amount of sweet-meets-savoury. Beyond ribs, try it brushed over pork tenderloin, spooned onto grilled chicken, or even as a surprise twist on a pulled pork sandwich. Yum!

It’s the kind of sauce that makes people pause mid-bite and say, “Wait… what is this?” (My favourite kind of compliment.)

And please—save a little extra for dipping. You’ll want every last drop. Enjoy! xx
